Update on Global Influenza A (H1N1-2009)

(Source: Ministry of Health Singapore)

* As of 30 April 2009, WHO refers to the new influenza virus as Influenza A (H1N1-2009)

As of 5 May 09, 21 countries have officially reported a total of 1124 cases of influenza A (H1N1-2009) infection. In Singapore, there are still no human cases of Influenza A (H1N1-2009). The World Health Organization (WHO) has cautioned nations not to let our guard down as there may be a second more severe wave of infection.

Our Disease Outbreak Response System Alert status remains at ORANGE and precautionary measures are in place to forestall the spread of the virus to Singapore for as long as possible. Meanwhile, Singaporeans are reminded to ensure high standard of personal hygiene.

For more information on Situational Update of Cases and Home Quarantine Order (HQO), please read the full article here.

We strongly urge our Students and Tutors to protect yourself by taking precautionary measures such as avoiding crowded areas and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene at all times. As many of our students are young at age, we hope Tutors can do their part to remind the students to wash their hands frequently with soap and water.

For personal protection, the following is essential:
– Clean hands with soap and water frequently
– Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough
– Do not touch your mouth, nose and eyes
– Stay home and avoid crowded places (including trains, buses) when you are unwell
– Put on a surgical mask and see a doctor if you have flu symptoms

Be Safe, Not Sorry!

ProTutors is on Twitter!

Happy Labour Day! Please enjoy this good break from work!

We were messing around with Twitter last night, and added this as a new feature. It is on the right navibar, under “RECENTLY TWITTERED”.

Hopefully for those who are active on Twitter, you can now receive updates from us directly!

Somehow I feel it is similar to RSS feeds (or probably the same!), anyway just another subscription choice for you to choose from!
And we’ll be updating some new assignments later today as well.

Start Tweeting now!

Stay updated with latest news

With all the changes in the education system, we feel that it is important for us and everyone to stay updated with what the changes are.
Therefore, we have added THREE new sections on the right, RSS news from MOE and Yahoo!

Now you see how cool RSS feeds are? =)

We bring to you press releases and key speeches from MOE. If you are interested in any of the news, just click on the link and it will bring you to their main page.
In addition, we have included Singapore education news from Yahoo!

Three is enough for now, I hope! Anything more, would make everything look more messy!

Refer and earn!

Now we are excited to launch our new student referral system!

If you have engaged our services previously and satisfied with our dedication, you would want to refer your friends, neighbours, relatives, and everyone to us!
Or you, as a tutor, are unable to continue your future lessons, you can refer your current students to us, and we will ensure that we will recommend someone equally suitable!

And since we are all into the spirit of sharing and loving, we feel that you deserve so much more for being a great referral.
We will definitely share our earnings with you. For more information please view our “Refer a Student” page!

For easier blog navigation

We understand that some of the information on our blog are kind-of difficult to find. Aha, so we added TWO new boxes on the right!

Quick Links
This is where you want to start start looking for important information on our blog. Most of your “how-to” questions are being linked here. Well, if you still cannot find what you want, please feedback to us. It’s our duty to give you what you want!

Useful Links
The first important link that came to mind is our dear MOE, and not forgetting school holidays! If we (or you) have come across other useful links for parents, students or tutors, let us know right away and we will post it up to share with everyone!

Sharing is loving, isn’t it? =)
